Bike Hire FAQ

Can I pay for mountain bike hire on a credit/debit card?

Yes, you can pay for our Snowdonia mountain bike hire with most major credit and debit cards, however American Express is not accepted.

Can I pay my bike hire deposit on a card?

Yes, you can make a deposit using your major credit or debit card, however we do not accept American Express.

Why do you need a deposit?

We take a deposit to cover the cost of any damage that may be sustained during your adventure, or to help cover our staff costs if you are late returning your hired mountain bikes. Deposits will be withheld and/or additional reasonable credit/ debit card charges will be incurred in the event of damage or late return. See full terms and conditions.

Why do you need my address when I hire a bike?

We take your address as a security measure so we know who is borrowing our equipment. We may contact you if you leave something behind or have forgotten to collect your deposit. We do not pass your information on to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for more details.

Equipment FAQ

Can I take a babyseat/buggy/Trail-a-Bike on an electric mountain bike?

No. For safety reasons we are unable to fit any kind of equipment to an electric mountain bike.

Can you fit a babyseat/buggy/Trail-a-Bike to my bike?

No. For safety reasons, we do not allow baby seat hire, buggy hire or Trail-a-Bike hire for use with personally-owned mountain bikes. 

How old do I need to be to ride an electric bike?

According to the electric bike rules set out by the UK Government, you must be 14 or older to ride our pedal assist electric mountain bikes (EMTB).

Do you hire out bikes with stabilisers?

We do not have any mountain bikes for hire that come with stabilisers. If your child cannot confidently ride a bike, we offer Trail-a-Bike hire, which are single wheel bikes towed by an adult rider. If your child is older than 6 or 7, we also have tandem bike hire options available, which are more suitable for older children.

Can I take my dog in your buggies?

No. For hygiene and safety reasons we do not allow dogs to share our hired buggies with children.

Group Visit FAQ

I'm interested in bringing a large group to you. How many bikes can you hire out at a time?

We are happy to supply mountain bike hire for large parties. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and we will be able to advise you further.

I want to bring a group to you. do we pay on the day or can you provide an invoice?

We invoice for group mountain bike hire in advance. Once the payment and signed terms and conditions are received, your booking is confirmed.

General FAQ

Are you open all year?

1085 Adventures is open every day except Christmas Day. We reduce our hours during winter to match the reduced daylight hours.

Do you have maps of the trail?

We have an OS explorer map of Snowdon available for sale in the 1085 Adventure shop.

Do you deliver bikes?

We are able to deliver and collect bikes, by pre arrangement only. A fee will be charged to cover transportation and labour. Please contact us for details.

Can I do a one-way mountain bike hire?

All hired mountain bikes must be returned to the centre from which they were hired by the allotted time, unless agreed by pre arrangement only. A fee will be charged to cover transportation and labour. 

What happens if I am late returning my hired bike?

We hope that you will return your cycles to us on time, however if something should happen and you are running late we will retain the deposit you left when hiring the mountain bikes. Wherever possible, please telephone to let us know you will be late. See terms and conditions for charges relating to late return.

What happens if I damage the hired bike?

Depending on the level of damage sustained to the mountain bike that you hired, we will keep part or all of your deposit and additional credit/ debit card charges may be incurred.

What is the 1085 Adventures postcode?

You will find the 1085 Adventures retail shop in Beddgelert: LL55 4UU. 

Do you charge for car parking?

No, we do not charge for car parking in Snowdonia. We have free car parking available at the campsite. 

Can I get to 1085 adventures by public transport?

It is possible to reach the 1085 Adventures retail store by public transport, however it can be limited at times and from some locations.

Do I have to wear a helmet?

Yes, you must wear a helmet. We have a “No Helmet No Hire” policy. Helmets are available free of charge to customers who hire a mountain bike from us.

We have a variety of sizes of helmets available, from toddler up to large adults.

What should I wear on my bike adventure?

Comfy trousers such as tracksuit bottoms are better than jeans. If the weather is inclement, windproof as well as waterproof clothing is best and gloves are a must. In terms of footwear, trainers or shoes with good grip are the most comfortable for safe cycling. When cycling on sunny days, please don’t forget your sunscreen. 

Do you repair cycles?

No, we no longer offer a mountain bike repair service.

Do I need to pre book?

Yes. Please book mountain bike hire on our website in advance, so that we can ensure we have your bikes ready and waiting for you. If you wish to book for 6 or more please get in touch to arrange a group discount.

What’s included in the bike hire?

When you hire a mountain bike from 1085 Adventures, we will supply you with a elmet, lock, repair kit and route maps – and the bike of course 🙂.
