First of all, the basics. The Hyperlite Mountain Gear Unbound 40 is a waterproof, lightweight and comfortable backpack with a 40L capacity, making it perfect for those longer trips where you need more food, water and clothing with you. There is so much space in this backpack for all of your gear, and weighing under a kilo, this pack won’t drag you down.
The lightweight nature of the backpack is thanks to its construction from Hyperlite’s own Dyneema® Composite Fabrics, which are waterproof, incredibly durable, and lightweight- according to Hyperlite, the fabric has a “strength-to-weight ratio that makes it the strongest fibre in the world”. That’ll do!
One of the highlights of the Hyperlite Unbound 40 is the new pocket setup. Large, dual-entry front external pocked and huge side pockets, and a stretch bottom pocket give you loads of options for storage, and ensure everything you need is easily accessible. The side pockets are perfect for slipping in your Sustain water bottle to keep hydration on hand.
The newly-added shock cord binding and daisy chain connections also provide countless customisation options for securely strapping on oddly-shaped gear, or to secure the roll-top and compress the pack when the full capacity isn’t used.
Not only is the Hyperlite Unbound 40 light and spacious, it’s also designed for comfort. You won’t experience any rubbing, or chafing here – Hyperlite has always been well known for having incredibly comfortable shoulder straps on their backpacks and this is no different, while the padded hip belt has had a little more cushioning added.
